StarCluster 3 Finished

I did the last bits of StarCluster 3 yesterday. Spent the day indexing and spell-checking everything. The only thing left is the developer's license, which still has to be worked out. I'm looking now for reviewers. The game will be released the 29th.

I could not find a license that would do what I wanted, so I will have to word my own. As I AM NOT A LAWYER, this will probably fail utterly to either protect my work or encourage others to share what they do with it. Thus I am dreading this.

I am just about wrung out. I know two games will be developed by others under this license, but beyond that I am totally blind.

  1. Might I suggest getting in contact with Scott Driver, he's the guy behind Thool and Huge Ruined Pile. If I recall, he's also an attorney. He might be of some help.

  3. Congratulations, Clash! Great to see such an exciting project come to fruition! :)

Once you have it out there, what are you going to do next? Have you got a marketing plan?

  4. Hi Rob!

My marketing plan, such as it is, is to get a bunch of reviews of the game out there, talk about it where appropriate in fora, and help get the licensed products out there, hoping the thing will get self sustaining.

I need to put together a freely downloadable version as well - not a demo version or an SRD, but a fully playable game without all the tools.

  5. As a side note, my paucity of marketing savvy is exceeded only by my utter lack of layout talent. :D

  6. What about a commercial creative commons license?

  7. Hi Trentin!

All cc licenses allow redistribution of my work. I want to allow derivatives with attribution only.
